Following the seminar “in situ_in between” by Prof. Frauke Eckhardt, nine students occupy the former pumping station of the Kunstverein Rhein-Sieg-Kreis with interactive sound installations and space-related sound sculptures as well as an audio walk in the vicinity of the “Pumpwerk”.

In an intensive examination of the medium of sound and the existing soundscape (acoustic soundscape), everyday, social, historical and architectural aspects of the Kunstverein were artistically investigated and aesthetically condensed in heterogeneous focal points.

The audio-visual works present possibilities for a sensory exploration of space and the reflection on an individual location, they translate temporal traces into extended contexts of meaning, interpret and stage real space by means of fiction, or explore aspects of the physicality of architecture.

With a wave of the hand, the exhibition Waving invites visitors to discover the sounds of the former “Pumpwerk” and perhaps to rediscover their own hearing anew.
