Framing the frame: Animation in Contemporary Art highlights the current use of animation by artists and filmmakers in works shown at museums and galleries around the world, tracing the use of frame by frame manipulation of images in film, video and digital media from avant garde filmmaking to contemporary practice by artists such as William Kentridge, Francis Alys, Julian Opie, Erdal Inci, Juan Zamora, Natalie Djurberg, Martha Colburn and Robin Rhode, amongst others.
Lourdes Villagómez Oviedo is a director, producer, teacher and occasional programmer of independent and experimental animation. She studied Communication at UAM-X (Mexico City) and Animation at CalArts (Los Angeles). Her work has been screened at festivals, museums and galleries around the world. She currently lives and works in Mexico and Madrid.
